Board officers selected for UH Geauga Medical Center

University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center has announced the election of its board officers in 2007.

David M. Ondrey was elected chairman of the Geauga Medical Center board of directors. Ondrey, a Chardon resident, is a principal and attorney with Thrasher, Dinsmore and Dolan, LPA. He has been a member of the Geauga Medical Center board since 1998 and served as vice chairman for the past three years.

Ondrey is also active in civic affairs and is a longtime solicitor for Burton and South Russell villages, as well as counsel for the Geauga Park District.

"Our goal as a board is to make sure Geauga Medical Center is operating in both a fiscally responsible manner and with the highest quality of care, in addition to our partnership with the larger goals of the University Hospitals system," Ondrey said.

"The people of Geauga County will continue to benefit from the significant investments University Hospitals has made to enhance Geauga Medical Center's facilities and available medical services."

As part of University Hospital's Vision 2010 strategic initiative, Geauga Medical Center has recently committed $20 million for enhancements to its facilities and services. Among the completed enhancements .are a state-of-the-art emergency department, a new heart and vascular center, a spine and orthopaedics center, a weight loss center and a physicians' clinic.

Plans are being finalized for a $4.5 million surgical pavilion expansion, with ground breaking scheduled for July.

Other board members assuming leadership positions include George W. (Tim) Taylor as vice chairman.

Taylor, an active director on the hospital board since 1999, is executive director of Geauga County Job and Family Services. A Chagrin Falls resident, Taylor is an active member of several other community boards.

Gregory C. Robinson has been elected board treasurer. He is chairman of Custom Materials Inc. and resides in Moreland Hills. He has been a board member since 1999.

P. James Kamer is the new secretary of the board. First elected to the board in 2003, he is an account executive for employee benefits with Herbruck Alder. He resides in Chagrin Falls.

Other members of the Geauga Medical Center board are: Dr. Kevin Chartrand, chief of the medical staff, UH Geauga Medical Center; Robert A. Forino, chief executive officer, Jannx Medical Systems; Richard J. Frenchie, president and chief executive officer, UH Geauga Medical Center; Linda Barnes Grimm, secretary/treasurer, G&E Tooling Co.; Edith Lerner, associate professor and vice chair, Department of Nutrition, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine; and James F. Patterson, president, Patterson Fruit Farm.
